snowflake eel gasping

Question
We have 90 gallon salt tank and I have a snowflake eel along with a Niger trigger , dogface puffer , fuzzy lion and volt. lion , my eel is the longest surviving ,had him for 2 + years , he is now gasping and has a weird kinda "growth" on his snout , don't know who else to describe it . I want to help him ,he looks like a fish out of water , eyes bulging and gasping very quickly.Please help, thanks

Im sorry to hear about your eel troubles.

I would need more information before i start guessing, cause it really can be a number of issues...

Maybe tell me a bit about your system?  what type of equipment, etc.

Also a little bit about your maintenance routine... What did you do last??? and when did you do it?  and does that coordinate with when the eel started acting out???

Im not really that experienced with agressinve species, but, I do have a new forum at www.thelittleocean.com  and I have afew members that have aggressive species and lots of lions and scorps
