Canister filter for Saltwater aquariums?

Question
I am planning on converting my existing 75 gallon African cichlid aquarium over to saltwater soon.  I will break the system down and start from scratch.  For filtration I have a Fluval 404 canister filter and a Aquaclear 500 power filter.  I will be using these two filters and adding a good protein skimmer to new the new system.  I will also be adding a significant amount of live rock and live sand.  I will start the tank out as a fish/invert. tank.  Are these two filters and the protein skimmer enough filtration?  All I keep reading about is using a wet/dry system.

Answer
Larry,

Your Fluval 404 combined with a Aquaclear 500 will create sufficient mechanical filtration.  A protein skimmer is a must to dissolve inorganic materials.  Do not forget your live rock ( make sure your live rock has been fully cured) with live sand will act as a great biological filter.  A wet dry system is good but you have all the right components right here.

good luck.
