Answer
Hello Andrea,

I am not clear on your question.

You seem to be asking about temperature, but then you ask about salt, nitrate or water???

If it is 'temperature', then the termperature should be between 76-81  This is usually accomplished with an aquarium heater in the winter, and fans in the summer...

The heaters usually have a 'temperature' controller, (thermostat), that you set, and the heater will come on and off automatically to make sure the tank temperature doesnt drop below the level you set...

For cooling, they need thermostats that work in opposite... that is, they tell the fan to come on when the temperature goes up too high...

They sell 'aquarium controllers', that act as temperature controllers, for both heat and cool... they also work as timers to turn things on and off at set times...

BUT, the biggest advantage of an aquarium controller is that they will turn things off based on temperature,   i.e.   if the tank is getting too warm, and the fans and chillers arent keeping it cool, the controller will turn off the lights also...

A good controller will also text you and let you know...

These range in price from $100 and up

They are kind of pricey, but, if you figure that temperatur controllers cost about $50 each, (you need two), and timers are about $10+ each, and power strips are another $20+  then you will see that controllers arent expensive at all, (except yo uprobably have the power strips and timers and maybe temperature controllers already...

but you can sell those once you get your aquarium controller in place.

you should check out www.neptunesys.com  and look at the 'Aquacontroller'   (maybe the Jr???)  or whatever suits your needs...

If your question is not about temperature, and about something else, i apologize, and would ask that you resubmit your question...  maybe you can post it on my new forum at www.thelittleocean.com

good luck, and please let me know how things work out or to clear up your question regarding 'salt/nitrate/water'
