Question
My son has a salt water tank and is away at school. I know very little about it and he asked me to check something out that his girlfriend had noticed. I observed in the algea growing on the glass many (2-3 hundred)small shrimp like creatures anout a tenth of an inch long cling there. There is an eel, a large starfish and a large lion fish living in the tank that appear healthy but there is some debris floating in the water that looks organic.it looks like dead shin or slim coat.

Answer
Hello Ed,

Those sound like amphipods or copepods, PODS for short

They are crustaceans like shrimp but they arent shrimp...

Basically if you have those in your tnak, then things are going well... they are sensitive to chemicals and changes in temperature and pH and all that...

So, apparently you are doing a good job watchin the tank.

keep it up
