Question
I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THE PASSER ANGELFISH LIKES TO HAVE LOTS OF OPEN SWIMMING SPACE, OR LOTS OF HIDING PLACES,I HAVE A PASSER THAT IS ABOUT 7 OR 8 INCHES AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHICH WOULD BE BETTER IF I COULD NOT PROVIDE BOTH.THE AQUARIUM DIMENSIONS ARE AS SUCH 48-24-30 AND HOW HARDY A FISH IS THE PASSER AND WHAT KINDS OF TANKMATES ARE OK TO HAVE WITH HIM I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF I COULD HAVE A PICASSO TRIGGER AND A BLACK DOGFACE PUFFER.

Answer
The Passer Angelfish can grow to over a foot in length, so it requires at least a 100-gallon aquarium. It is a hardy fish, but can become aggressive, so it should be kept with other semi-aggressive tank mates. It grazes on live rock and will nip at stony and soft corals (sessile invertebrates) and clam mantles, so it is not a good candidate for a reef aquarium. A trigger or puffer would be fine as far as aggression goes however both of these fish also reach almost a foot in length and require a very large tank. With aggressive fish the chances of disputes will arise in a smaller tank when they start reaching their adult size. Be cautious and take into consideration that you may have to upgrade to a larger tank in the future. A combination of swimming space and some rock work should be provided for all three of these fish.
