Clown bonding

Question
I know it is normal for damsels to be very teritorial, and pecula clowns (ldentical to Nemo) to be teritorial but not as much as damsels. I just introduced a tomato clown to the tank and the damsel is picking on him and showing his teritory but my pecula clown is defending the tomato. The pecula regained some teritory and just let's the tomato clown cruise around in his space. Whenever the pecula moves away from the tomato clown ( or he doesn't fallow) the damsel moves in. The pecula shoots back and chases the damsel away to protect the tomato clown. Is this normal or does the pecula think the tomato is his? I just recently started this tank about 2 months ago so I am still new to this.

Answer
Hey mitch..

sounds like you are totally into this... how great...

I love making up 'back stories' to match the drama inside the tank..

Please tell me what size tank you have?  I ask cause it maybe a problem with the fish you have...

all of them are territorial... but the pecking order has a little to do with size..

Your tomato clown will become much larger faster... and she will be the boss... It maybe hard to imagine now, as she was the last one entered, which is a great strategy though...

the damsel is also a boss... especially the domino or black and white stripe damsel... VERY MEAN

If you have a tank smaller then 50gallons, i suspect they may end up killing someone...

a larger tank is even better...

I personnly had to exile the damsel to the sump.. she lived there for 4 years...

anyways, good luck and please, log onto my new forum at www.thelittleocean.com  and give us play by play color commentary of how your tank mates are doing... we all love that stuff...

good luck and hope to see you soon
