QuestionI have a 110lt marine tank that is approx 4 months old.
The levels of nitrate/nitrite etc are ok as is the ph level of 8.2
I have an eheim filter system that is large enough to handle a 200lt tank and an air stone.
The fish in the tank are a trigger/clown/file/tailfin and a wrasse.
I take out approx 15% of the tank evey two weeks or so and use a buffer to keep the levels constant.
Over the last 4 weeks or so the water has started to become cloudy and looks quite 'milky'. I have tried turning off the light for a few days and I have also added some 'cotton wool' to the filter to try and sift out the algea to no avail.
Any help or thoughts would be very welcome.
thanks David.
Answeruse a carbon filter. it should remove contaminants. a filter bag filled with activated carbon placed in the water flow should help greatly. do a 40% water change. make sure the water parameters are the same as the tank. ph, temp, salinity, etc. change slowly.
