Question
We just got a bubble tip anemone and he attached to a live rock immediately and all was well. When the lights went out he closed up and went to sleep I guess  this morning he was fine we fed him and he closed up and never came back out. Is this normal?

Answer
Hi Suzi. Occasionally bubble tip anemones will deflate after a big meal. This is nothing to be alarmed about. It should only stay that way for a few hours however and if he is staying closed for a longer period of time there may be a problem with lighting or water quality as well as the anemone being bothered by another inhabitant of your tank. Chances are that if everything checks out okay with your tank then he is going through his natural process of deflating and expelling wastes. Keep a close eye on him and if he still isn't opened up by tomorrow let me know and I can assist you further.
