Question
I have a fire oscar about 8 inches, and a albino about 11 inches. I think? they are both female. Fire is approx. 3 years and albino is approx. 4 1/2 years of age. However 2 months ago they started distrubting odd behavior ( I thought it was breeding behavior but now I'm lnot sure). About 4 weeks ago the albino started laying on the bottom I thought she was dying. And now every so often she will lay on the bottom on her side like she is sleeping, somtime the fire will set on her when I come to the tank the albino will get up. Now suddenly the are not eating. I normally feed large pellets and feeder fish for treat every couple of months. The feeder fish are usually gone in 12 to 24 hours. But they won't touch them. They are in a 55 gallon tank. Could they have out grown it? Please help me I am very attached to these fish. Tammy

Answer
Hi Tammy
I had this problem one time with my oscar.I told the pet store what was happening and they said it sounded like there was to much of something in the water. You need to get you an aquarium kit to test the what fish are funny like that.To cold or to hot of water will do that too.You might also try medicatting with something called paragon. My your oscar contracted hole in the head disease from eating an infected gold fish.My fish got this and eventually died on me.I had him 6 years.catch it well you can.I would try both to be on the safe side. The instructions are included with the paragon medication on how to use is.Hope this helps you and good luck.
