Angelfish bullying

Question
Hi, I have a 60x46x30cm tank with one small and two large angels, also neon tetras, tiger barbs and some other barbs.  The two large angels dominate the whole tank - mainly bulling the small angel, and also fighting amongst themselves sometimes.  On advice from a fish shop owner I bought two more small angels - to try and even up the numbers.  The bullys are now constantly chasing the smaller angels and keeping them at the back of the tank.  What should I do?  Get more?  Help!  Rach.

Answer
Hi Rachael,
Thanks for your letter. Angel fish are notorious for bullying. Maybe the shop will take them back. Or, maybe you could start a second tank. I know that's a big hassle, but there's no good way to reform a psychopathic fish.
The more fish you put in the tank, the more likely they will fight.
Maybe if you put some driftwood or rocks in for hiding places, the smaller fish can escape. Be sure to get the materials from an aquarium shop and soak them in clean water before you add them to the tank.
Hope this helps.
