my 20 gal. aquarium is in the 4th. week of cycle. my filter quit on me and i had to go back to my 20 gal. top fin filter. will the cycle time start over ? thanks for your help. lindab

Hello,

Unfortunately, the best course of action would be to start your cycling period over again. The beneficial bacteria that the cycling is trying to create live in your filter, so getting a new one will mean your amount of beneficial bacteria will be greatly reduced, therefore, restarting the cycling period.

Its terrible that this happened so far in your cycling period! I hope you can get it sorted out.
