Should I give my mollies a varied diet?

Question
Hey Chelsey,

I was just wondering if I should feed my mollies more types of food than just Wardleys tropical fish flakes. Could you give me a list on what food I should feed them and what effects it will have on my molly? Thx a lot.

Answer
Hey Axel,

Wardley is a good brand, I use the same. But, fish do enjoy a mix of food. basically, almost all food has the same affect, but they do enjoy the different foods every once in a while.

a food they absolutely LOVE is brine shrimp. this will also make them want to mate, if you are looking to breed. If not, they babies will get eaten any way so you don't need to take care of them if you don't want to raise fry.

different types of flakes they will like depends on the individual fish. try getting a few small containers and see what they like.

you an either feed them from a seperate container each day, maybe number the containers and do a "feeding cycle", like food 1 on day 1, food 2 on day 2, food three on day three, and then back to day one.
or you can dump all of the different types of flakes into a glad/ziplock container, mix it up, and just feed them a mixture.

basically, the choices are yours as to what you want to feed them. giving them different foods will make their day a little more interesting, though. lol

hope this helps you out!
best wishes, chels
