Question
i recently bought a pecock eel and have read that they are picky eaters. i think i have 1 of those. i have had him 3 days and all he does is constantly look for a way out. he is not shy. was wondering what food, methods of feeding you might suggest, iknow they are nocturnal

Answer
Dear Craig,
Peacock Eels in general must have live foods or frozen foods and perhaps even freeze dried foods such as Black worms, Mosquito larvae, redworms, brine shrimp, glass worms, Tubifex worms and even earthworms which are a real treat for larger eels.

Please make sure your new Eel cannot escape from your aquarium. You can find white crafting mesh at many stores and you can use tape to block any holes in your aquarium's hood with this. It allows air to still circulate as needed but your eel cannot get out. Better yet it's best to have a good aquarium cover that doesn't have excess holes and spaces where fish can jump out of. For feeding your eel it is best to use an unused and clean eye-dropper for directly feeding the live or frozen foods he needs.

Even though your eel is not shy, make sure he has a good hiding place to insure he is comfortable.

I really hope this helps! It's best to research everything there is to know about a certain fish you are considering before bring one home.

I wish you the best!!
Karen~
