Question
Is it safe to use colored plastic canvas in a fresh water tank? I was going to use it to make a cave and I would like to have color. Not just white PVC.

Hello,

The only things you should ever use in your aquarium are things certified for aquarium use. Anything else could leech unseen toxins into the water and could be deadly. Although this may not happen, it is certainly not worth the gamble. If you would like to make caves I recommend stacking rocks or using driftwood to make more natural looking caves. Lots of plants will also help make colorful, natural hiding spots.
