should i turn off my air pump when dosing co2

If your doing a planted tank i wouldn't suggest using a airpump at all. Your plants should be supplying enough oxygen without the need of a airpump. With the air pump on and having co2 your pretty much canelling out both of them... Think of co2 as a bottle of coke... there's co2 in the coke.. but when you shake it.. it escapes.. pretty much what your doing when you agitate the water with that airline pumping in co2.

you want your water non agitated.. to keep the co2 in there to dissolve :)

making sure your co2 is around 30ppm would be ideal.
