Plecostomus stringy poop

Question
I have two plecostomus with some other fish in a 48g tank. For the past few months the plecostomus have had long, thin, brown, stringy poop. This can be normal because I have a 40g breeder tank at work with one in it and I don't see the same thing out of it. Can you suggest what might be the problem and possibly a cure?

thanks,
Spencer

Answer
Dear Spencer,
Well, actually it doesn't sound like your plecostomus has any bad health issues such as Internal parasites (which is indicated by thin white or clear stringy poop) and it may be just the diet or amount of food that the pleco is getting in the 48gallon versus the one in the 40gal. But otherwise, stringy poop is usually quite normal for plecos, as long as it isn't clear or white there is likely nothing wrong at all.

I really hope this helps!!!
Karen~
