Question
I have a 10 gallon tank and the only 2 fish i have in it are both Buenos Aires Tetra, and I wanted to get more to add to my aquarium! What are some good fish that i can put in with them that wil be compatible? Thanks!!!

Answer
Hi Steve,
You'll have to be careful with your stocking as you probably already know since your tank is a 10-gallon and the Buenos Aires Tetras are larger than your average little fish. The most ideal situation would be for your current Buenos Aires tetras to have more of their own kind to school with. Ideally six or more. But since that's not really possible and if you cannot upgrade your tank. You may be able to get by with adding another 1-2 Aires tetras. But I wouldn't add too many more fish to this setup. I'm not sure what your interested in, but maybe a bottom feeder or two would be good tankmates, like Cory catfish to provide some movement on the bottom areas of the tank. Only 3 or so to keep the tank moderately stocked.

Unfortunately I don't think it would be a good idea to put anymore fish that this in your tank. Buenos Aires tetras grow larger than average as mentioned before and they can be fin-nippers. There's always the possibility of them becoming aggressive in such a small tank if housed with other tetras or community fish.

A much better option would be at least a 20-gallon tank or larger so you could still have a small group of these fish as well as several other tankmates.

Best of luck!
Karen~
