Scales grow back

My goldfish have been losing scales and I am not sure if they are going to grow back. I just got the goldfish from a carnival and thats when I noticed it. Currently I have them in a 10g until I get a bigger tank. Will they grow back the scales?

Hello,

It is hard to say if the scales will come back. It depends if this is simply natural scale loss, or if it is a disease. To be on the safe side, you should add either an antibacterial (such as Melafix) or aquarium salt to your tank.
