Filter Placement - Freshwater Tank

Question
Hi there,

I recently set up my freshwater aquarium, and had my filter in the back left corner of my tank.  The inlet tube was close to a tall plastic plant in the corner.  I put two angels and three swordtails in the tank, and when I woke up in the morning, the two angels were stuck to the end of the inlet pipe and dead.  The swordtails were fine, swimming around the tank happily.  Was the inlet tube too close to the plant that the angels were trying to take cover in, and being in the corner they had nowhere to swim away from the filter pipe to?  Or is my filter sucking water too strongly for the angels?  The tank is a 55 gallon aqueon glass aquarium, and the filter is a power filter that came in the box with the tank.  Thanks for any help you can give me.

Answer
Hello Seth!
I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your fish.
Yes, it can be possible that your pipe's force is powerful. Where you put the Decor. doesn't really matter . If your tank is not high/deep enough, this can also occur. Angelfish also like to swim up not only forward.
Hope this helps!
