My Angelfish

Hi,
I got an angelfish from a pet store, about a month ago. I was watching it one day and it will go from having three black stripes to being all white. I've watched them fade in and out and i just cant figure out what it is doing. Is is normal for angelfish's stripes to repeatedly disappear and come back?

Hi Amber,
This is a very interesting subject because I've witnessed this too with striped angels. Angelfish, like a lot of cichlids change their coloration and fade out their stripes or spots according to environmental changes or their mood. For instance, angels commonly go completely pale to almost white whenever they are severely spooked. But fortunately they usually recover quite easily. Its very neat to watch otherwise.
