Question
Hello,
I've had a 10 gallon tank for about two weeks now and I added about 7 new fish yesterday afternoon. Last night, after being out for a couple of hours, when I saw my tank, I noticed some stringy slimy stuff clinging to my fake plants and a little floating in my water, my boyfriend which has had fish his entire life said it wasn't normal. It's still there today and I think it might be getting worse. If you could help me determine what this is I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you.

Answer
Is this a new tank or have you had it up and running before?
The running rule with fish that I have always been told is an inch of fish per gallon. It would be much help if you can tell me what kind of fish you have in your tank.

Also is this clouding your water? (White cloudy almost a haze) This could be a build up of waste.

I have 2 more questions before I can help you out.

Was the aquarium running 2 weeks with nothing live in it before you put the fish in?

And did you add all 7 fish at once if they were the first fish to be put in?
