Hiding Pleco

Question
I have a 20 gallon tank and have 3 platies, 2 zebra danios, a glass catfish, and a common pleco. The pleco always goes behing the heating element in the fish tank. Does this mean the water is too cold, ar is is just a way for him to hide? I am worried that something might be wrong

Thanks,
Billy

Answer
Hi Billy,
I think your pleco is normal. Just try giving him a cave or two to hide in. He will appreciate it. A really good homemade hiding place is a brand new (not one that's been used) flowerpot with a large-enough notch knocked out so when set upside down it makes a really great hiding spot.  I haven't seen a fish yet reject flowerpots! ;-)

Best wishes,
Karen~
