Answer
Hi Phoebe,
Sorry to hear your betta has fungus. Fungus is usually caused by dirty water conditions, chilly water, and stress. So as a precaution, the firs thing to make sure of before even beginning treatment. Is to do a big water change on your betta. Make sure the replacement water is always treated with a good water conditioner and the temp is the same as the betta's original water.

I'd make sure his temperature stays warm. The warmer the water, the better his immune system and recovery time will be. At least 78-80F is best.

As for medications. I've used this one medication by Mardel called "Maroxy" for a particularly bad case of fungus on a betta. That with daily water changes really cured the seemingly incurable fungus on that betta. I've also used Jungle Brand Fungus Clear with good success. But again, I also did daily 50% or larger water changes and redosed with the proper amount of medication after the water change.

Fortunately it's rather easy to get the right dosage for small betta containers. There is a website called "Healthybetta.com" that gives the proper dosages for 1gallons.

The dosage for Mardel's Maroxy is-
*1 Drop per gallon

The dosage for Jungle Brand's Fungus Clear is-
*Dissolve 1 tablet in 10 tablespoons of water. Add 1 tablespoon of concentrate mixture to 1 gallon. Wait four days until you do a second dosage. If you must do a second dose: Change 25% of the water and repeat dosage.

Best wishes and I really hope this helps!
Karen~
