Feeding puffers

Question
I'm thinking of starting a tank of puffers. From what I have read Puffers need to eat snails to keep thier breaks trim. While looking at some figure eight puffers in a fish store the clerk said you can buy snails in a can. I have looked on line and I could only find unshelled snails. Is this what I'm looking for?

Answer
Hi David:  the puffers need the shells to keep their beaks in working order.  Try to find some small brown pond snails and start a small tank of just snails... feed them lots and change their water once per week... and you will have more snails then your puffer can eat.... dave
