Question
QUESTION: Hi Dave, Sorry I did not know how to link this to my original question.  We decided to get new rock and a new Biowheel filter system.  I got that set up Two days ago.  We have not put fish in it yet.  Should I put a few in?  We are adding a pinch of food every few days to start the cycling process. Please let me know what else I should do to get the tank off to a good start before adding fish.  You were so helpful before.  Thanks in advance

ANSWER: I would not add fish yet.  Give it a few day and then have your water tested. If the levels are nomral then you can add fish... otherwise wait a few more days... dave

QUESTION: I added some danios today.  ALl levels are very good. Amonia was 1.0.  I will continue to moniter daily.  Any suggestions on where to go from here.  I figured I would wait anothe week before adding more fish.  Suggestions?

Answer
I would not have added any fish at all.  Fish are both a biological and chemical contribution to your tank.  With the new fish, expect the water chemistry levels to go up.  1.0 ammonia  not good... it is toxic. My suggestion is to not add fish until the ammonia level is really good and that would be when the ammonia level reads 0.0.  dave
