Extreme Ammonia Levels

Question
A few weeks ago i bought a 110 gallon tank for my kids, we got a few oscars, a few convicts, and a few yellow labs, and a pleco, and then my son got a dragon goby. Problem is a few days after we set it all up is when all these fish were added to the tank. The ammonia has now gone completely off the charts (test went blue). I have done water changes a fair bit, I have also been adding cycle and ammolock like mad trying desperately to save these fish. Now I think the ammonia is down to an 8.0 but obviously that is still extreme and I don't know what else to do.

**  A few things about my aquarium: 110 gallons, currently housing 17 fish, double overhead lighting (one normal, one blue), eheim pro2 cannister (model 2028) filtration which is supposed to do 160 gallons, -a bubble wall, and an additional bio-wheel filter for 80 gallons to try and help with the high ammonia and to add oxygen.

Thanks is advance for your time and help!

Answer
Ok....the first mistake you made was by adding too many fish at once.

You should start with 1 or 2 small fish and add fish gradually to build up bacteria that break down the fish waste. The cycle with the first few fish should be a few weeks long.

You have a pretty drastic situation here but there is a solution that can HELP:

Find some one with an aquarium as large as yours or larger.....remove half of your water and put the water from  the already established FRESHWATER tank into yours. This should jumpstart the cycle. Throwing a hand full of their gravel in there is even better. Make sure the other tank is at least 8 months established before you do this.
