Patriot Crabs

Question
I recently purchased a patriot crab...is that the same as a moon crab, or a rainbow crab?  When this crab was in the pet store, it was in a tank with water, and a rock for him to sit on to be out of water.  Does he primarily need water environment, or sand/dry environment?  I also was told to feed him shrimp pellets, or dry dog or cat food...how much in a feeding? I do not want to overfeed him, as it is easily done to fish.  Thanks!
