Question
i have 5 african cichlids.  up until two days ago whenever i came close to the tank they "ran" to the corner that i usually feed them.  now when i approach the tank all 5 run and hide.  i started out feeding them pellets.  when it seemed as if they were getting tired of pellets i switched to bloodworms.  i feed them 2.5 times a day.  i say 2.5 b/c the last feeding is more like a snack as opposed to what i usually feed them.  i've done a partical change of water sice i've had them (one month).  they are do for another change this weekend. they all seem to be healthy.  when i'm not close to the tank all five come out and play or swim in their usual manner.  the behavior of all 5 seems to be normal.  normal being what i saw them doing before two days ago when they started hiding.  please help if you can.  i don't think anyone is sick but if they are i want to help as much as i can b/c i really like them all.

seems the africans have established their own territories and they run to them when they feel threatened.
In time they will become bolder and more confident, you can also rearrange the tank and that will put everyone back to square one.
if the tank is large enough you may want to add in a few more fish as africans will stake out their own areas and if you have enough of them they really can;t get too greedy and you will see the fish more.
for now, it sounds like they are fine and just acting as they would in the wild.
hope things work out for you.
