My oscar and green terror

Question
QUESTION: It started with my oscar, it was as if his skin was peeling.  It leaves white patches.  now my green terror is having it happen to him.  I have tried fungus clear, water changes and quick cure (for ick).  Nothing is working.  the oscar does not look to be in danger right now, hes does have a few small spots of peeling, but the green terror looks terrible.  He appears to be pale in addition to his skin peeling.  please help, i don't want him to die.

ANSWER: Hi Nancy:  I would suspect that the two fish are fighting.  The peeling skin and white patches are bites.  You have tried fungal and parasitical medication without improvement and your green terror is pale... fish pale when they in danger.  I would separate the two of them before one or both die... cichlids fight to the death.  You can treat both with aquarium salt and malafix for their wounds.  Keep me posted.... Hope this helps... dave

Hi Nancy:  There is a difference between a salt bath and adding aquarium salt to your tan(s).  Neither fish in this case need a salt bath... but putting the salt into your tank(s) will help them heal too.  Just follow the instructions on the box of aquarium salt.  Aquarium salt is a great preventative and I use it in all my tanks...except my snail tank... dave

QUESTION: i want to say thank you.  you were correct.  i separated the green terror and he got better.  my red devil is picking on everyone.  any ideas on how to stop him and keep him?

Answer
Hi Nancy:  the only answer is to separate him from the other fish. Red Devils are just that... and once they become aggressive there is little hope in keeping them with other fish.  The exception is a huge tank where he has adequate space... a fish like this needs at least 55 gallons to himself.  dave
