Question
My tank has been set up for approximaley 5 months. My betta is starting to turn from blue to white. What is the best thing to do to help him? He is also in th tank with other fish as well.(tank size10gal.)

Other fish are: 2 neon tetras, one algea eater, and one albino.

Answer
Hi Aaron;

Try a 25% water change and be sure to use a good water conditioner. Be sure the new water is the same temperature as the old water. All tanks should have a 25% change every week to keep the fish in good health. If the water gets too old the fish can get weak and sick easily. A water change now might perk him up a bit.

Does he eat?
Does his belly seem bloated?
Do the other fish seem to be picking on him?
Does he look like he has fungus or mold on him?
Any part of him look infected at all?

You may have to separate him and use medicine if he has an infection. Keep him in a warm place and use a medicine from the fish store that treats the symptoms your fish has. There are descriptions and pictures on the packages usually.
