Question
Hi Chris,
I am doing a project on beta fish and would like to know how long these fish live. I looked through all the Q & A and I haven't found my answer. If you could find out for me that would be awesome! Thank you so much!

Sincerely,
Jenna Haggerty

Answer
Hi Jenna;

The first thing you will want to know for a good project is the proper spelling and pronunciation of the word "Betta". It is a common mistake. To pronounce it, say the 'e' like you would in the word "pet". Try saying the word "better" with a British accent and that's pretty much it! If you can go the following site, scroll down the page and click on the little speaker icon to hear it yourself;

Now that we have that straightened out, a Betta's lifespan is 2 to 3 years. When you buy one in a store they are already 8 months to a year old.

Here are some great sites that will help you find more of what you might need;

Hope you get a good grade!
