Question
Thank you Amber for your advice! My little oranda has stopped since I first asked you my question! The only problem is my little black moor is picking on the the medium black moor. Tonight I tried feeding them in seperate areas, so hopefully that will help. I just have one other quick question if you have time. I've noticed that my larger black moor's fins look like they are getting little holes in them, which is odd, because when the little black moor does pick on him he usually goes for his belly. He is also not as black as he normally is, and has an orangish tint. He is still eating and swimming around, so I am not sure if he is sick or stressed out or what's going on. If you have any advice/knowledge on what could be happening I'd really appreciate it. I already feel bad that he's getting picked on, and I really hope he is not sick. Thank you so much again Amber!

Sincerely,

DeAnna

Question -
Hi Amber!

I have a question about mixing goldfish. Right now I have a 20 gallon tank with one medium sized black moor, a small black moor, and one small oranda. I just recently returned two other goldfish (an oranda and a fantail) becuase they would peck on my medium sized black moor. Now that I've got these two new small fish, I've noticed that the small oranda has picked on the medium black moor also (although he dosen't do it consistantly like the others, I've only seen him do it a few times). My black moor is not injured at all, but I was just wondering if this is normal, or if I should return the oranda and just stick to all black moors? Also I was wondering how often I should feed them (because I was thinking maybe the oranda was doing it because he was hungry?). Right now I feed them small portions in the morning, and at night. Thank you very much for your help!

Sincerely,

DeAnna

Answer
Hello again DeAnna-

Don't worry about your little guy turning gold, it's perfectly normal and happens to most black moors once they mature. As for little holes in his fins, I couldn't say - Are there any decorations he may be getting snagged on?

Hope this is helpful,
