Black Blotches

Question
Hello, I have a Blood Parrot fish in a 55 Gallon tank (running for over a year now) along with a few smaller fish, one which just passed. It was the first fish I ever got so I just assume it was its time to go. however My parrot fish used to be very very friendly and I could hand feed it myself, but lately its been tweaking out whenever I go near the tank. I got the water tested and they said the ammonia was  a little high so I changed 1/4 of the tank. Ammonia always seems to be a problem I don't understand why. anyway I have noticed the blotches now after changing the water and I'm worried for my poor little fish!

Answer
Hi Cathy,
Fish produce ammonia every time you feed them.  You need to be changing 25% of the water once a week, every week, to keep your fish happy and healthy.  Have you been doing that?
