White algae or fungus like substance along substrate

Question
I noticed today that along the bottom of our tank and on all of the decor (fake plants, the ship, the bridge) there are these white, approx. 2-3 inch long floaty things resembling algae or fungus.  It is everywhere throughout the bottom of the tank.  The fish seem unaffected, but I don t know what it is.  Can you help?

Hi Rachel,
  It sounds like you have been overfeeding your fish by quite a bit.  Do you use a gravel siphon to clean your tank once a week?  If not, you need to and you need to start right away.
