Question
I purchased my beta about 7 mouths ago and everything has been going ok untill i noticed a white dot on his right eye. It is not a ring, just a dot. Does this mean anything. If so is there anything i can do.

Answer
Hi Brianna,
Are there any other fish in the tank?

The white dot probably looks like a spot of cloudiness?
If so, that indicates eye damage.  The most common source of eye damage is from one fish biting another -- they often go straight for the eye.

The good news is that provided nothing damages the eye further, such damage often heals quite quickly (a matter of days to maybe a couple of weeks).

It is also possible for a fish to damage its eye if it bangs into something sharp in the fish tank so make sure that there aren't any really sharp, pointy things in the tank.
