Question
Hi, this is senthil, i have a flowerhorn fish at my home been for 5 months. He his 1 year old fish, usually i use to feed him humpyhead pellets and frozen dry shrimps, for a change i put 40 - 50 no's of live smaller shrimps on last sunday morning, the same day when i saw my fish in the evening, it was stressed and after that he is not having any feed for 5 days, my mother noticed some of the shrimps were run on flowerhorn head. that night itself i removed all of the shrimps and i changed 30% of water. next day morning i suggested a doctor and he suggested me to put paracidol solution of 7ml/35 litres in the fish tank and i did the same for 2 days.i found some improvment after the treatment, but now also he is not having any feed his stomach gone inside and his head gone down,he his scratching his head still in the tank side glass, but still he is playing with me normally as of earlier, shall i de-worm the fish with de-worming tablet.

Answer
Hello Subu,

If your fish is itching himself on glass, this is a sign he is itchy.

He most likely has a parasite on the external body, but the sudden lack of eating could be from another Flowerhorn condition.  He could have something going on internally.

I'd give him 2 ground cloves of garlic.  Crush the clove, put it on a teaspoon and drop it in the aquarium.  The water will smell, but it will help combat some of the issues he is having.

It should also spike an urge to begin eating again.

If he does not begin eating soon, he will die.

Make certain his tank is heated to 80 degrees Farenheit and that he has fresh, clean water.
