QuestionHey, Chris it's me Daniel again. I bought the breeding net for my pregnant platy but it seems really lonely in there and when is it going to have babies. Because I'm going on vacation on 12/23/06 and I realized it during 12/2/06. Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AnswerHi Daniel;
They usually have babies about 6 weeks after breeding, but we don't usually know when they actually get pregnant in the first place so it's hard to say. I would suspect that since you noticed she was ready to have babies just recently, it won't be long now. Put a little sprig of a soft live plant in the net to help her hide a bit if she feels "exposed". It can be stressful for her to not have a place to feel she can hide. Elodea (anacharis) and cabomba are good ones. She can eat them for extra nutrition too.
