fish died wierdly

Question
we have had a fish tank for only about a month.  we have 1 male betta, 1 female betta, 2 Platte, 2 guppies.  the female guppie died a week ago and we figured it as a natural death.   yesterday however one of the Platte was found inside of a castle decoration kinda wedged in.  the employee at preferred pets said that one of the other fish made him get wedged in- to me that doesn't make since.  i just figured it got stuck in it and couldn't find it's way out in the dark,(it was at night that it happened.  Any idea's on how a fish could be forced into a tight spot to the point it died?

I have no idea why a pet store would tell you that, fish just dont cause other fish to get stuck. Anyways, fish like to exlplore there surroundings, your platy just got a little too curious, so, to prevent this from ever happening again i would get a bigger castle or stone.
