Question
I have a 50 gallon tank with about 5 or 6 different kinds of fishes. The Golden Severum recently had babies and little by little they started disappearing until they were all gone. I am in the same situation again with about 50 little babies in the tank. My question is, what do I do now so that they don't all disappear again? If I move the babies to another tank do they need a heater and oxygen as well? What can I do to make sure they survive?

Answer
Let me congratulate you first for your successful hatching of the Golden Severum!I'm afraid it sounds like your other fish and perhaps even the Severum itself is eating the fry. There are really only three options for this. One is to place more plants and hiding spots in the tank so the fry can hide there and only a few will be eaten. Two is to place all the fry in a separate tank(doesn't have to be large(5 gallons should do)) which will limit your fry loss to a very small number although you will have to add a heater and I do recommend an oxygen provider.Three is to just leave the fry as it is and you may have 0-5+ left and the others eaten or killed. The choice is yours.Again congratulations have a nice day!
