convict fish babies

Question
My first bunch of babies has 1/2 regular stripped but the other half are ivory
colored. Same parents.  Same batch.  They look very healthy but what is up with
the different colors?  Thanks for any feedback.

Answer
Hi Lady,
There is a recessive gene in some convicts, called "pink".  It is likely that both your parents carried that gene and that is why some of the kids got both copies and hence are "pink".   They are exactly the same as all other convicts except that they do not express the dark colors and so you see only the underlying light colors, hence the name "pink".  There should actually be about 1/4 pinks in the brood, though
this may vary a little.
