Petting Oscar

Hello,

I was just wondering how can I pet my oscar? He is now around 5". Everytime I put my hand in the tank he will swim to it waiting for food. But when my hands slowly approach him to pet him he always backs off bit by bit... I have never touched his head before. Any tips?

Hi Ben,
 It just takes time and patience. Also, be sure that your hand is wet. You never want to touch a fish with a dry hand because dry skin will pull the protective mucous off of a fish and lead to infections (or worse).
