How many fish in a tank

Question
Hi there,
As the subject says, I need help with trying to shift my fish to a different tank but not sure if their size and numbers could make it not work.
I have a 55 gallon, with a 60 gallon heater set to 80 with a 60 Whisper filter, also 2 airstones. The fish I have are 1 blue gourami, 1 cory, a pleco and mollies. The pleco is huge, he's 9+ inches long and I have alot of mollies.
Actually could you help me with that, how to count fish..is it best to take them out and put them in a bucket and count as you go, I have tried taking a picture to count but it was to many for me to count and not get confused.
All the fish are happy and healthy in the 55 gallon but would you say it's worth moving them to a 29 gallon?

Thanks alot :]

Answer
Hi Lara,
Counting lots of fish is not trivial.  Catching them and putting them in a bucket will give you an exact count, but is that really essential?

As for moving them, unless you have to, I would leave them in the current tank as they appear to be happy and healthy.   Moving them to a smaller tank MIGHT be okay, but there is definitely a risk.  Why mess with success?

If you do decide to move them, defnitely move only a few at first, then a few more a week or so later, etc.  Putting lots of fish all at once in a new smaller tank will likey be disastrous.
