Bristlenose male

Question
My mother's bristle nose pleco has an extremely swollen belly and seems to have red dots/splotches on his sides. My mom was wondering if he's in pain and what she should do.

Hi Andrea,
 It does sound like it is sick, however, there is very little you can do about it.  Catfish are very challenging to treat because they are really sensitive to medicines.  All I can suggest is to make sure that his water is very clean and hopefully he will get better.
