Male Betta Biting Female

Question
I have a 15 gal. tank that I've kept my male, white half-moon betta in for about two weeks now.   Three days after I got him, I bought a white female that I put in a jar next to him before putting her in a hurricane lamp with him a couple days later. He was making his bubble nest, but the bubbles would either pop or be gone the next morning. So far they've been together for roughly five days so I released her tonight, but he keeps nipping her. I freaked out and took him out. ( his bubble nest was nearly gone ) When I put him back in, the female seemed to be more confident, but soon started swimming for her life at his flaring. She still doing so after half an hour, but at least my male's trying (veryyyyyyy slowly) to build a bubble nest again. Should I take him out if he continues to bother her or wait it out? She's laying at the bottom of the tank and swims to the top to float there until he comes around. (Why isn't she hiding?) .. Should I just introduce another male betta (since I have one conditioned already)?

Answer
Hi,
The only reason you are having these problems are you bettas are too small or too young to breed.

A tip for the nest: Bettas may destroy the nests if they are not happy with them. Keeping the tank securely covered will also prevent the cool night air from popping the bubbles.
