Question
we have had our 29 gallon aquarium for several months. We only have 2 parrot fish. Last week they began to hide behind the big rock. They don't even come out to eat. They used to always be out especially when they see you. I can't coaxe them for anything. They don't even come out to eat. Our water is ok, don't know what to do. They live in our office. At a loss as to what to do. I am very worried as it has almost 2 weeks. Any advice? thanks, judy

Answer
Hi Judy,
A fish suddenly becoming shy is often a sign of deteriorating water conditions. When you say the water is "okay", how do you know?  The most important thing to do with a fish tank is to do weekly partial water changes.  Once a week, every week, you should change 25% of the water. That will do more than anything to keep your fish happy and healthy.
