Question
Ok I bought 6 mollies 3 black mollies and 3 dalmation mollies and one of my dalmation mollies is pregnant her belly was really big wen I got her and I did some research and found that she is actually pregnant but I'm not sure wen she will have her fry? She's seperated from the big tank with the others bcause she got aggresive towards the others! She don't seem to swim as much as she used to and as much as the others she just kinda sits towards the top of the tank! Her belly has gotten really really big! How long do u think it will b before she has her fry! The tank temp is bout 79/80 degrees farenheit and the test strips came out with everything normal as well! I just want to know when she's gna have her fry so I can get her out of the tamk before she eats her fry!

Answer
Kaci, if all you have in the tank if mollies, you shouldnt have to remove the fry or females. They normally wont eat the fry, even the males, so that shouldnt be a concern. After a 3-4 week gestations period, they usually have the fry after about 4-6 weeks. Brackish water is their natural habitat, just fyi. What i normally do for fry food is put whatever food you normally feed the adults into a plastic bag. Then i use a bread roller and make the food into an almost powder mix. You can also purchase food that is made and sold specifically for fry. I hope this helps you. Good luck! If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me anytime.
