sick moore

i have had my moore fish for a yr now and he has been very healthy not to mention that he has eaten other fish in the tank ( several ) but he was ok 2 days ago then i noticed his eyes got real big ( bigger than normal) then yesterday he started having this slimy filmy discharge from butt and then today his eyes are weepy and slimy and on is big and one is sunken and his fins have a white lie through them and he is hiding in a corner. What happened to him? can i save him? if yes how?

He has Popeye.

It is caused by 2 things.

#1: Filthy water.  Clean his water and filter.

#2: Bacteria.

Both are causes which go in conjunction with each other.

My advice:

1.  Clean his tank thoroughly and change out his filter.

2.  Add 3 teaspoons of marine salt per gallon of tank water, dissolved, to his system.

3.  Run that salt 4 days and when his eyes clear up, remove the salted water and replace it with fresh water.

He should cure right up.
