Question
I got a crown fish-beta 2 weeks ago, he did well at first and then after I changed his cage (could just be a coincidence) He started staying at the bottom just coming up to eat, and sometime just bursts up out of nowhere, I have him in a smaller tank be himself, with air no warmth though, do you think he could be cold>?? Help asap please

Answer
Hi Michelle,

Laziness is a massive problem in Bettas. They become particularly lethargic when water quality deteriorates or the temperature drops to low.

They are used to living in Paddy fields where the water is pretty much constantly warm.

Aim to heat the tank at a constant 26C (79F).

Good Luck!

Tom
