Question
had 4 fish different kinds in a tank a tetra a glow fish a female guppy and a sunburst... the sunburst and glow fish are really nice and the guppy but for some reason the tetra didn't like the other fish mostly the guppy... the poor guppy got its tail chewed off and it hides in the corner of the tank,i was told to get 2 more guppies and tetras, they do hang with there own kind but after an hour after getting the new fish all the tetras chased after the guppies the 2 new tetras barley chase after any other fish but the one i still had before the new ones is still chasing after the one guppy and the 2 new guppies,if thats not bad enough my glow fish is hyper witch is normal it keeps chasing after the tetras and guppies, at first the glow fish was really shy swam at the top of the tank in a circle it got use to it but aim also concerned that may be the glofish is trying to stick up for its self because its still kind of a baby and its the smallest one so it doesn't get eaten by the tetras, the second smallest is the one with the chewed tail she still kind of a baby 2,i heard tetras need 6 in a tank to get along i cant fit no more in my tank 8 is allured to many...please please please tell me what i should do before my little baby guppy dies she so nice to the other fish please try to help me with this problem i just notice that the only one who is mostly hurt is the baby are the trying to eat it ate night? please tell me what i should do to keep my fish from getting more hurt

Answer
Hi Rae,

I got this question in the fish questions pool today.  It must have been there awhile, referred to other experts by the original expert you chose.  Please do not hold me responsible because it's taken so long to answer.  I just got it today, and was on it soon as it arrived. :)  I hope my answer is helpful for you, and in advance, if there is any need for a followup, please feel free to ask.

Add some plants to the tank immediately to protect baby fish.  The baby can hide in the plants and they will protect her. :)

Happy fish-keeping.
