Question
Hi Stacie,
Paratyphoid is spread by droppings of the infected birds only. Will it spread by any other means?
Regards,
Immanuel.

Answer
Hi Immanuel,

The bacteria can be spread by the droppings of infected and carrier birds. However, it can also be spread by saliva, crop milk, and infected eggs, which means that infected pigeons can also transmit paratyphoid though feed and water. A bird may also become infected by the inhalation of contaminated particles. Mice and rats can also introduce this bacteria into your loft, so it is important to rid the loft of any rodents and carriers.

Thanks,
Stacie
